Rule 2

Site details are true

Campground + software company Version 0.1  ·  Working Draft

The rule

Every site listing shows five facts, and the campground vouches for them:

  1. usable length, as a number of feet;
  2. electric service;
  3. water and sewer;
  4. pad surface;
  5. room for slide-outs.

A fact that doesn't fit the site type (such as slide-out room on a tent pad) may say "N/A." If a site is materially different from its listing, the guest gets the Rule 10 remedy. "Materially different" means the guest's stated rig or setup doesn't fit, or can't connect to the advertised service. If no rig was stated, any difference beyond the audit tolerance counts.

What this looks like

Site 22 says "60 feet, 50 amp, full hookups, gravel, room for slide-outs on both sides." When you arrive, that's what you find.

If it isn't, and the difference matters, the campground owes you the remedy in Rule 10.

Why

One large software company's terms say it does not check what campgrounds say about their sites. One guest reports a 60-foot site swapped on arrival for one "barely 45 feet long." Another reports booking a site that "does not even exist."

How it's checked

There are two separate tests. A site can fail the listing audit without triggering the guest remedy.

  • Listing accuracy (audit): facts must match within the tolerances in Appendix A, T3.
  • Material difference (guest remedy): defined in the rule above.

Software company

Pass

  • Listings have fields for all five facts and show them to guests.
  • The booking flow asks for rig length and type on RV sites.
  • The system records which campground user confirmed the facts and when.

Fail

  • Any of these is missing.

Campground, desk check

Pass

  • Every listing shows all five facts (or N/A).
  • Length is a specific figure (not "approx.").
  • The facts were confirmed within N months · open.

Not met

  • Software limitation: the software has no field for a fact.

Campground, site check

Visit a sample of sites (Appendix A, T2). A service under repair is not a mismatch if it has a dated work order and the site is blocked or the problem is told to guests.

Pass

  • Every sampled site matches its listing within T3.
