Rule 20

Marketplace listing and use of your name only with your yes

Software company Version 0.1  ·  Working Draft

The rule

A campground is listed on a marketplace, or has its name and photos used in ads, only after it says yes.

  1. The yes is a separate choice in a box that isn't already ticked. It isn't part of the main contract and isn't required to get service.
  2. It covers every marketplace or partner site the software company sends listings to.
  3. The campground can take its yes back at any time. Within N hours · open, the software company stops sending listings and asks every partner to remove them. Existing reservations are honored. No marketplace commission is charged on reservations made after the withdrawal.
  4. Nothing in the contract stops the campground from contacting its own guests.

What this looks like

During setup, the manager sees an unchecked box: "List my campground on the marketplace." Nothing is listed unless the box is checked.

The same goes for using the campground's photos in the software company's ads.

Why

One software company lists partner campgrounds on its marketplace "with no setup required." It also uses their names and images unless they opt out in writing. Marketplace commissions found were 10% at one company and 15% at another.

How it's checked

Software company
