The rule
Checkout and the receipt list each fee on its own line.
- Each fee has a plain description.
- Each fee says who keeps it: the campground, the software company (named, if it's a marketplace), or the card processor.
This covers receipts the booking system produces, not a handwritten receipt for a cash walk-in.
What this looks like
The receipt reads: "Site, 3 nights: paid to Pine Hollow Campground. Booking fee: kept by the booking software company. Payment processing: paid to the card processor."
Why
Guests can blame campgrounds for fees the software company sets and keeps.
How it's checked
Testers check the software company and the campground separately. Each gets its own result.
Software company
Pass
- Checkout and receipts show each fee separately with a recipient from (b).
Fail
- Fees are lumped together.
- A fee is called only "service fee."
- A fee has no recipient.
Campground
Pass
- Each of its own fees has a plain description.
Not met
- Software limitation: the software can't show recipients.
